Megtron 9
Panasonic's flagship ultra-low-loss laminate. Dk 2.9, Df 0.0005 at 28GHz. Designed for co-packaged optics host boards, 224G+ SerDes, and the most demanding AI/HPC interconnect architectures where every 0.1 dB of loss matters.
Why Megtron 9?
Beyond 224G
For designs pushing past 224G PAM4 or long-reach channels where Megtron 8 leaves no margin. Future-proof for 448G prototyping.
Co-Packaged Optics
Host board substrate for CPO modules where electrical-to-optical transition demands the absolute lowest PCB channel loss.
Selective Layer Use
Combine Megtron 9 only on critical 224G+ signal pairs with Megtron 6 elsewhere. Maximum performance at managed cost.
Megtron 9 In Production
Ultra-low-loss boards on our line — modules, production panels, and edge-connector detail.

Gold-plated modules with edge contacts. On a CPO host board the electrical run is short but has no loss margin to give away — which is the whole argument for Megtron 9.

Multi-up production panel. We build Megtron 9 selectively — only the 224G+ pairs — with Megtron 6 carrying power and ground on the same panel.

Gold-finger edge connector. Above 224G the connector transition and the via stub cost more link budget than an inch of laminate does.
Megtron 9 FAQs
What is Megtron 9?
Panasonic flagship ultra-low-loss laminate with Dk 2.9 and Df 0.0005 at 28GHz. For co-packaged optics, 224G+ AI interconnects, and applications where Megtron 8 loss budget is insufficient.
Megtron 8 vs Megtron 9
Megtron 9 is 35-40% lower loss than Megtron 8 (Df 0.0005 vs 0.0008). Use Megtron 9 for the longest 224G channels, co-packaged optics host boards, and future 448G prototyping.
Availability
Megtron 9 is available for qualified designs on allocation basis. Lead time typically 3-4 weeks for material. Contact us with your design requirements.
